At Charlies Stores we pride ourselves in being able to meet all of your seasonal needs. Stocking more than 77,000 products for home, garden and outdoor living, the company has grown considerably since the first store was opened, but the passion and values it was founded on have remained the same… we only sell quality products that we would want to take home ourselves and work very hard to ensure that they are always the best value for money.

Nearly 40 Years In Business

We have been operating for nearly 40 years under the guidance of the company owner, Chris Lloyd, and are proud to be an independent, family-run retailer. Whilst the company has grown, the passion and values it was founded on remain the same; we only sell products that we would be happy to take home ourselves and work hard to ensure they are fantastic value for money. Alongside this sits our belief in looking after our customers, you will always be greeted by friendly, knowledgeable colleagues with good advice. Our teams are experts in their field and will be able to assist with any product questions you have.

400 Team Members and Counting

In the early days there was only a small team, many of whom remain today, but now there are nearly 400 team members and seven stores across Wales and the borders. The company started with two army surplus stores, in Newtown and Welshpool, Powys, before changing direction in 1986. Chris decided to close the Welshpool store in favour of opening in Aberystwyth, and introducing a broader seasonal product range, which reflects our offerings today. Since then the company has gone from strength to strength and has also opened out-of-town stores in Shrewsbury, Queensferry and Carmarthen along with a garden and country store, Coed-y-dinas, which was originally a grade II working farm for Powys Castle Estate.

Working Closely with our Communities

Being based in rural Powys, the Great British countryside is something we are extremely passionate about. This is reflected in both our product offering and also our work with the community. We work very closely with the Young Farmers movement, a fantastic organisation dedicated to supporting young people in agriculture and the countryside. Chris is an active advisory member of his local board of management; we provide resource and funding for their monthly newsletter and support activities where possible.
